Jay Z Speaks Out Over Barneys Racism Controversy

Jay-Z has appealed for patience while he contemplates whether or not he will continue working with American department store Barney's despite allegations of racism. The chain was recently accused of racial discrimination, as two black customers claimed that they were stopped outside the store by the NYPD after buying designer items.

Jay Z is currently collaborating with Barneys on a Christmas project, which will involve a specially designed window display and a one-off designer collection inspired by the rapper. However, he has come under fire from fans over the past week for not withdrawing from the partnership, with an online petition launched to help persuade him to pull out.

"I move and speak based on facts and not emotion," he wrote on his website. "I haven't made any comments because I am waiting on facts and the outcome of a meeting between community leaders and Barneys. Why am I being demonised, denounced and thrown on the cover of a newspaper for not speaking immediately?"
