Is Chloe For Sale?

Chloe may soon be selling more than covetable clothes and lust-worthy handbags, as the brand looks set to be sold by owners Richemont. The Swiss luxury holding group is said to be turning its focus towards higher-end "hard" luxury brands and looking to cut off its "soft" luxury brands which have been under-performing.

Azzedine Alaïa, Dunhill and Shanghai Tang are set to be joining Chloe on the transfer list, as it were, with other fashion labels outperformed by Richemont's watches and jewellery divisions. Thomas Chauvet of Citigroup said he expects Richemont to make a "complete exit" from fashion and accessories, WWD reports, in a bid to refocus on its hard luxury brands.

Rumours abound that Yoox Group and Richemont are discussing the possibility of merging Yoox.com with Net-a-porter, although Richemont denies that Net-a-porter is for sale.

No comment has been made by Chloe, and the brand continues to focus on the new season and the launch of its new book Chloe: Attitudes.
