Jeremy Scott Takes On Moschino

Jeremy Scott is the new creative director of Moschino SpA, it was announced this evening. The American designer will present his first collection for the 30-year-old Italian house during Milan Fashion Week in February next year.

"This appointment respects the DNA of the brand as Jeremy Scott represents not only an eclectic and contemporary communicator but most of all a designer capable of re-interpreting the identity and the essence of Moschino," a spokeswoman for the company told us.

The appointment marks the end of Rossella Jardini's long tenure at the house of Moschino - which she has led since the death of its founder, Franco Moschino, in 1994.

"Moschino thanks Rossella Jardini for her enormous contribution in keeping the spirit of Moschino alive and at the forefront of fashion from 1994 to the present day," continued tonight's statement. "Her creativity and tenacity drove the brand on and Rossella Jardini will always remain a crucial part of our history."

Famous for his own attention-demanding, irreverent attitude to fashion, 39-year-old LA-based Scott will continue to head up his own label - which he launched in 1997 - as he takes on this new role.
