Chanel took its Métiers d'Art show to Dallas yesterday - and the show, and the surroundings, were exactly as Texan as you might have hoped.
Staged in the city's Fair Park, the event was divided into three parts. A "drive-in" screening of the new Chanel short film The Return, written and directed by Karl Lagerfeld, saw celebrity guests climb into vintage cars - including the spectacle of Anna Wintour, André Leon Talley and Lagerfeld squeezing into a convertible together.
"I love Dallas. I love Texans. They are the nicest of people," Lagerfeld told Dallas News. "Texas is wild, but I made it more romantic."
The catwalk show came next - with models including native Texan Erin Wasson taking to the catwalk in cowboy fringing and Navajo weaves galore - before guests headed to the after-party, with some (step forward Dakota Fanning) joking that they couldn't wait to get out of their dresses to enjoy some local cuisine.
