Isaac Raymond: The brilliant Mind

I would like to introduce you guys this young  british designer that I met via Twitter (ins't that crazy?). I met Isaac when he followed my Twitter account (@JamilCedenoC) few months ago, I read his Bio and I saw that he was a designer from United Kingdom, I'm a very curious person so I went to his website isaacraymond.co.uk I saw his work, and I immediately said "This guy have talent and potential to be a huge fashion designer worldwide". I  immediately emailed him to interview him. 

I hope you guys enjoy this interview as I did.

Question: How and when you started to design?

Answer: I started designing in 2010 when I was 12. I was inspired to start designing when I saw American pop artist Lady Gaga performing at the 2010 Video Music awards on TV. It was her outrageous and amazing fashion sense that grabbed me. I was also very inspired by designer Alexander McQueen.

Q: From where come your inspiration?

A: I am very inspired by the world around me. Things like the human body, nature, space, Art, Performance art, music, other designers, different cultures and a wide variety of other things in life and the mind.

Q: How would you describe your style in fashion?

A: The style of my designs are strong, fierce, powerful, intricate and couture Alien! I will always keep my garments as dramatic and elegant as possible - that is the perfect hybrid for me and my designs.

Q: As a british how would you describe british fashion?

A: There are so many different areas of British fashion but overall it's bold, one of a kind and fun!

Q: You considere yourself as a emerging designer or stablished designer?

I like to think I am an emerging British designer. I hope I can make a difference with my work.

Q: I read in your website that your brand has been inspired by influences such as Lady Gaga, Alexander McQueen, Gareth Pugh, Donatella Versace and Hussein Chalayan. I wanna know why they inspire you? because each of them are very different

A: I am really inspired by a wide variety of music icons and designers as I love working with a range of different fabrics and styles to create my vision of the garment. I find I discover inspiration everywhere.    

Q: If you could dress someone, who would be and why?

A: It would be an absolute dream to dress Lady Gaga. As she is such an inspiration to me and my work and she is such an incredible artist and person!

Q: What do you expect of Isaac Raymond in the future in fashion world?

A: Over the next 5 years I want to grow as a designer and explore more abstract areas of art and fashion to bring them together. Also, I want to expand my brand work with a variety of designers and people in the fashion world to make my brand become bigger and more successful. So that one day everyone will know the brand name Isaac Raymond.

Q: Do you have any favorite fashion house or a favorite designer?

A: Alexander McQueen is definitely my biggest inspiration as he was such a talented and one of a kind designer. I love the way he transforms the human body using fashion. I also love Thierry Mugler as he is such a remarkable and ground breaking designer. His use of transforming the body using clothes is one of my favorite things about Thierry.

Q: What is your biggest desire in fashion?

A: To create garments that transform the body and to make the woman wearing my garments feel strong and powerful. I want change the world with creativity through my fashion. 

Q: Do you have obsession?

A: Fashion is my lover and my obsession.

Q: Black or white?

A: BLACK AND WHITE WITH A SHOT OF BLOOD RED!¡! 

Q: As a younger designer how you feel in the place you are in fashion?

A: I feel I am constantly growing as a designer and in the years to come I want to experiment more and more with my designs by using different techniques, metals and inventing new ways to create a garment.

Last question, to the young and emerging designer what would you tell them as a advice? 

A: You have a talent, you have a dream and you have life - use it wisely. Always be true to your self, never give up on your dream no matter what people say to you because you are unique and the world needs you to make a difference with your designs. Always work your hardest and always try new things.

Lady Gaga’s Catwalk Raid

One of the most talked-about pieces on the Atelier Versace catwalk on Sunday night was the crystal-adorned mesh hood shown with a white fluffy coat so, understandably, press and couture customers who visited the showroom in the subsequent days were keen to see it in the flesh - but they were disappointed. Lady Gaga was probably shining its sparkly baubles even as they spoke, since it was by then proudly ensconced in her much-talked-about wardrobe.

After borrowing it to wear to the post-show Versace dinner, which she attended as the special guest of Donatella, Lady Gaga asked (quite politely, we're sure), if she could retain the one-of-a kind item. And Versace allowed her to.

Although she is the brand's current campaign face, as well as a close friend of Donatella, Lady Gaga should feel privileged at the gift, since it is fairly unusual for a couture piece to be given away to a celebrity straight after the show. This is thanks not only to the fact that it is the only one in the world, but also because the craftsmanship involved in its creation mean it would have been excruciatingly expensive (not to mention time-consuming) to make.

And it seems Lady Gaga knew that only too well, since her tweet (and accompanying hashtag) following the dinner denoted just a hint of self-satisfaction.

"Me, Riccardo Tisci, Donatella Versace and Franca Sozzani. In white fur crystal hood #offtherunway," she tweeted.

Lady Gaga For Versace

Lady Gaga career has seen her appear in many surprising guises, but the latest one seems very familiar. The singer looks unnervingly like Donatella Versace as she poses for the new Versace campaign, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

Sporting waist-length, poker-straight, platinum-blonde hair, Lady Gaga reclines on a sofa in a pale lilac Versace dress and chunky silver accessories. The campaign bears the collection's name, Lady Gaga For Versace, for which the company has established the hashtag #VersaceLovesGaga.

"I am honoured that my friend Lady Gaga is the face of our new Versace campaign," Donatella said. "I wanted to capture her true beauty and spirit in images that are elegant and alluring. She is like family to me, the embodiment of the Versace DNA."

The link-up was rumored earlier this month, when the Italian label initially refused to confirm the collaboration - although it was said at the time to have been shot in London by Mert and Marcus. Lady Gaga's latest album,Artpop, featured a song called Donatella, which the singer described as a love letter to the designer.

Is Versace To Be Lady Gaga's Fashion Saviour?

Versace is giving no comment as yet as to the rumour that Lady Gaga will be the face of its spring/summer ad campaign.

It has been suggested that photography duo Mert & Marcus photographed the star while she was in London recently. There is no doubt that the spring/summer 2014 collection from the house, which showed off a tougher-than-usual, leather-clad biker girl that Donatella told us would "liberate" the Versace woman, might make a nice change for Gaga.

Having recently admitted that she uses fashion as a tool to deal with her "insanity", the singer's metallic mouth pieces, bruised make-up and wild fashion ideas seem to have been even more extraordinary than ever of late - but her friendship with Donatella, about whom she has written an entire song on her current ARTPOP album, might be just the comfort she needs. 

Lady Gaga: I Deal With Insanity Through Fashion

Lady Gaga says that her avant-garde ensembles are a way of coping with her "insanity". Last week, the star - who was in London to promote her new album, Artpop - stepped out in a string of looks that were deemed daring even by Gaga's high standards; featuring a shell-shaped parasol, towering feather headpieces, smudged white face paint and a false teeth mouthpiece, originally designed as a cuff.

"It's how I deal with my insanity," she said on The Graham Norton Show, which will air this Friday. "From when I was young I had voices in my head, and for the longest time I was drinking and doing a lot of drugs, and it was the clothing and the artistry that saved me. I get sheer joy out of creativity, it's like a psychedelic experience for me."

Her former collaborator Nicola Formichetti severed professional ties with the star earlier this year because of the "insane" and demanding nature of the role. The pair remain good friends, but she is now styled by Formichetti's ex-assistant, Brandon Maxwell.

"I'm too busy with [other commitments]," he told WWD back in July. "I've done two albums with her, it's been like five years, and you know, I'm always going to be involved somehow, but I cannot do it every day. She changes 12 times a day; it's insane."
