"It's such a special day for me, it is a great honour to receive this recognition, which reaffirms a strong personal and professional bond with New York, a city that has given me and continues to give me so much," Armani told WWD.
To mark the occasion, the designer will host an event entitled One Night Only, at Hudson River Park's Super Pier this evening. The party will kick-start with Eccentrico, an exhibition of unique clothes, accessories and photography. Guests will then watch a show in an exclusive runway venue, featuring a retrospective of more than 100 looks from the designer's Privé collections since 2005, including looks from his most recent haute couture collection, Nude. Models Lindsey Wixson, Liya Kebede, Christina Kruse and Frankie Rayder are set to walk in the show.
Afterwards, guests will party to the beats of DJ Mark Ronson in a pop-up Privé club. And if you're not in New York this evening, you can still follow the event live at Armani.com/live. Eccentrico will be open to the public from Friday 25 to 27.
