NY Fashion Week Tightens Ticketing Policy

A new ticketing policy at New York Fashion Week means that many bloggers and freelancers, who have previously attended the shows, may be left without a ticket for the autumn/winter 2014 collections.

IMG Fashion, which operates the event, will announce next week "a number of changes aimed at addressing a growing array of designers' complaints," the Wall Street Journal reports. Guest lists are set to be cut by around 20 per cent.

"It was becoming a zoo," Catherine Bennett, senior vice president and managing director at IMG Fashion Events and Properties, who has overseen the changes, told the WSJ. "What used to be a platform for established designers to debut their collections to select media and buyers has developed into a cluttered, often cost-prohibitive and exhausting period for our industry to effectively do business."

Oscar de la Renta led the way last season by enforcing a similarly stringent ticketing policy. The changes will also include two redesigned show spaces on the Lincoln Center site, as well as several new off-site venues.
