Former Tiffany Employee Jailed For Theft

A former Tiffany & Co vice president has been sentenced to a year and a day in prison after pleading gulty to stealing $2 million of jewellery from the brand.

Ingrid Lederhaas-Okun admitted one count of interstate transportation of stolen property - which included more than 165 pieces of jewellery, such as diamond bracelets, earrings, rings and pendants. She acknowledged in a sentencing document acquired by CNN that her theft dated back as far as 2005.

"With today's sentence, Ingrid Lederhaas-Okun has learned the price she must pay for stealing millions of dollars' worth of fine jewellery from her employer - loss of her liberty and forfeiture of her ill-gotten gains," US Attorney Preet Bharara said.

She was also ordered to forfeit $2.1 million and to pay $2.2 million in restitution.
