Stuart Vevers Gets To Work At Coach

Stuart Vevers has arrived in New York to begin his new role as executive creative director at Coach and the former Loewe designer can't wait to get started.

"I'm living on Bank Street in the West Village," the designer said, adding that his crates had arrived just that morning from Madrid. "I'm really excited to be here. I just love a new challenge."

And the British designer - who was at an informal event at the Monkey Bar in Midtown Manhattan to meet members of the American press - has already impressed his new bosses.

"Stuart not only understands the fashion world but he understands a heritage leather brand, which Coach is - an American leather goods brand," Coach executive Victor Luis, who was joined by fellow exec Lew Frankfort, told WWD at the event. "He's already helping us on the road to transforming Coach into a broader lifestyle brand from a handbag and accessories brand. We're very excited. He's truly busy, and working nonstop."
