What Kate Upton Learned From Negative Comments

Kate Upton has spoken for the first time about Victoria's Secret show stylist Sophia Neophitou's negative comments about her - and it seems that it was an experience that she learned from.

"I had just gotten my cover of Sports Illustrated that day," she told V Magazine. "I wasn't used to that kind of media swirl. I had never met her, so it really came out of nowhere. It was my introduction to being in the spotlight and having people you've never met have an opinion of you."

Neophitou was asked whether Upton was likely to appear in the Victoria's Secret show and - although the model had featured in the brand's lingerie catalogues, not cast by Neophitou - the stylist indicated that seeing her sporting Angel wings any time soon would be unlikely, deeming her "too obvious".

"We would never use her. She's like a Page Three girl," Neophitou told theNew York Times. "She's like a footballer's wife, with the too-blonde hair and the kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy."

Since then, Upton has moved from shooting men's magazines like Sports Illustrated to focus on fashion spreads - appearing on her first Vogue cover in January 2013.
